Jiuzhaigou Valley
UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for colorful lakes, waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. Three valleys: Shuzheng, Rize, and Zechawa. Best in autumn (Oct) for golden foliage. Allow 1-2 full days.
Huanglong National Park
Spectacular travertine terraces with colorful pools, including the 3.6km Golden Sand Pavement and Multi-Colored Pond. 2 hours from Jiuzhaigou. Cable car available. Allow 4-5 hours.
Nuorilang Waterfall
The widest waterfall in China at 320m wide, in the center of Jiuzhaigou Valley. Iconic viewpoint featured in many films. Best photographed in morning light.

- Best time: March-June and September-November for mild weather
- Jiuzhaigou tickets: Book online in advance (limited daily quota). Peak season Apr-Nov, off-season Dec-Mar.
- Food: Chengdu is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. Must-try: hotpot, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, dan dan noodles.
- Altitude: Jiuzhaigou is 2,000-3,100m. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity on day 1, and bring warm clothing.
