Is the altitude a problem?

The cable car top is 4,506 m — some people feel mild altitude sickness. Take it slow, do not run, and buy an oxygen canister (cheap on site). Pregnant visitors and anyone with heart/lung issues should consult a doctor.

Do I need to book the cable car in advance?

Yes — the Glacier Park cable car has a daily quota and sells out, especially in summer. We reserve it for you. If the top cable car is sold out, we use the lower Yunshanping cable car instead.

It is 15-20 C colder on the mountain than in Lijiang, with strong wind and possible snow. Bring a warm jacket; rental coats are available at the base.

How much does it cost?

Full-day private car starts from $150 for a sedan (1-3), $190 for a GL8 (4-6), $270 for a V-Class (7-8). Entrance, bus and cable car are paid locally.

What else is there in Lijiang?

Lijiang Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Private Tour | Private Car

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Xueshan) is a 5,596 m glacier peak towering behind Lijiang, sacred to the Naxi people. A cable car climbs to 4,506 m where you stand on a viewing platform looking up at the glacier, while below, the Blue Moon Valley glows turquoise with meltwater pools.

The mountain is about 30 km north of Lijiang Old Town. We provide a private car and driver who waits while you ride the cable car and walk the valley. From $150 — finish back in Lijiang Old Town for the evening.
