Best Time to Visit Western Sichuan (Daocheng Yading)
Best May–Oct. Oct is the famous golden-autumn window (Xinduqiao and Yading at their best). May–Jun flowers; Jul–Aug greenest but rainier. Winter roads can be icy — ask about 4WD.

- Altitude: Daocheng sits at 3,700–4,700m. We acclimatize gradually (Kangding/Litang overnights), carry oxygen canisters, and drivers know AMS warning signs.
- Weather: Western Sichuan changes fast: sun, rain, hail and snow in one day. Pack rain gear and layers; UV is brutal at altitude.
- Roads: G318/G317 are generally good but with mountain passes (some 4,500m). Our drivers do these routes weekly.
- Permits: No special permits for these areas for tourists, but register in advance at some checkpoints — we handle it on the spot.
